Understanding Simple And Complicated Symbols In Poetry

Being a student of literature, you may have a hard time dissecting and analyzing short stories, novels, plays, and poems of the great popular authors. Your professor might be giving you home works that will require the understanding of the meanings of words and phrases when knitted altogether. There is a need to unlock the words to understand it.

Literature represents the emotions, feelings, perception or views, and opinions of the writer. It gives you information indirectly and it is all up to you to unlock and connect the adjectives, verbs, and nouns together to form a particular language that the writer is trying to send a message to its readers. The depth of the language and the symbols in poetry are most of the time incomprehensible.

All poems and plays have a story to reveal either happy, sad, or glory. But most poems highlight the memories of love, silence, grief, war, success, death, and even defeat. They correlate pain and misery to darkness, uncertain events, and cold ambiance. Memories are the favorite theme as it depict real life experiences and easy to select words.

Symbolism is a technique widely used by creative writers to deliver a deeper meaning of the words instead of using the literal words. Aside from memories and experiences, writers love to put into words the things that they do observe around them. It is hard to understand especially if you are new to literature and symbolism.

Writing and symbolism are both interesting to learn. Having that urge to learn is achievable by simply going back to the basics that is reading books and more books. Visit your local bookstore or you may search for resources in the internet. There is a need to put yourself into the mind of the writer for you understand those indirect words.

Now if you analyze and think why authors opt for symbolism, the answer is very simple. They want to write vibrant images and strong feelings into words for the readers' to deal with. The words force you to feel and expectedly react to it. Words are very powerful tool for expressing emotions. Just like what they us, a pen is stronger and mightier than a sword.

Wanting to learn the use of symbolism as your main method of writing, you better begin with writing few words than writing many descriptive sentences or phrases. Just limit your words. Use your imagination in expressing and losing your emotions in paper. Do not rush things. Flow the imagery of lines that suit best to your motive of writing. The content should be hard and exciting.

Great written poems usually deliver varied interpretations by different readers. Sometimes, the words appear to be much obscured, opposite, and disorganized making it difficult to fathom. Due to the arrangement of lines, it gives a sense of magic every end of the lines. Keep reading and appreciate the good outcome of constant practice in writing.

Actually there are literature classes that teach students and young writers who wish to learn excellent writing skills. The teacher will guide the student to magnify the words' meanings. Learning symbolism in crash courses is progressive. The higher you go, the more difficult the readings are.
