This Year's Biggest TV Shows

By Patrick Hale

Up to now, 2013 has produced some fantastic television shows, but there are several that appear to be shining somewhat more than others. We've taken a look at the most popular shows to bring to you the very best six. First up is Game of Thrones. Based on the bestselling fiction by George R. R. Martin, this HBO show regularly lures in audiences with its provocative mixture of drama, faith and civil war.

Up next is Breaking Bad. This show follows Walter White, a chemistry teacher, who falls prey to cancer, and has to resort to drug dealing to pay for his therapy. Together with his super pure meth and his underworld ex-student, Jesse Pinkman, they rise up the drug food chain in his quiet Texas town.

Another success is Dexter, a show about an LA cop who murders serial killers. How long can this vigilante carry on before he's discovered?

Based on Sara Shepard's stories, Pretty Little Liars tells the tale of a group of teenagers who are being threatened by someone mysterious, all after one of their very own vanishes. This series has TV audiences hooked.

If you happen to be into a little history from the 60s, you're going to love Mad Men. It's based on the advertising industry in those years and you have the opportunity to meet men that think the entire world belongs to them and women who know that their place in the workplace is to be an assistant. One, Peggy Olsen, won't be kept in her place and challenges men to rise in her career.

You can't speak about 2013 television shows without referring to Parks and Recreation. Meet Leslie Knope, the Assistant Director of the Pawnee Parks and Recreation Division. Her boss hates his job and hates government and her co-workers are equally as apathetic. She has to do whatever she can to help keep the division active, and her overzealousness is often comical.

In case you havemissed 2013 TV, watch these shows and you will be all caught up.
