Where To Locate Vintage Teddy Bears

By Carissa Glenn

Lovers of antiques may be wondering where to find vintage teddy bears. These beloved stuffed animals have much appeal and history behind them. Those wishing to purchase them need to conduct research on prices, manufacturers, and what the toys were made of before making any purchases. Once they have some basic information regarding these classic toys, some of the top places to seek these teddies are auction websites, auction houses, search engines, manufacturers of the toys, and antique shops. People can also ask relatives and friends if they have any available. Each of these places will be discussed more below.

Auction sites are a prime area to search for antiques. Some of these websites are very established, and people could go to them online directly. On these websites, there are individuals who look to sell their wares, and those people who place the highest bids essentially end up "winning" the items to purchase. There are quite a few people who post items on these sites when they are looking to clean up their homes due to a move or other reasons, and they may very well have some antique toys to sell.

On site auction locations are also great places to locate vintage teddies. Those desiring the classic toys can primarily be made aware of live auctions through local papers and Internet searches. There are times when these events are held at off site places like hotels. At these events, as is the case with Internet auction websites, there are sellers who offer to sell their items to the highest bidders.

Online search engines are the ideal places to locate antique teddies if a person does not really know where to start looking for them. All an individual has to do is visit the main search engines and type key search words into them. After this is done, he or she will have a plethora of results to go through which will eventually lead them to the vintage teddies of his or her choice.

People who know the names of the firms that manufacture the classic teddies can go to their sites directly, or they can call them. Many of these firms still operate today and continue to sell the vintage toys. There is no doubt that what they are selling is a "real" vintage item.

Antique shops are of course great places to find vintage toys and other items. Many shops exist in urban areas but can be found in other locations as well. They can be located through online searches or word of mouth.

Another place to look for antique bears would be family and friends. Such items are especially to be cherished as they are passed down from one generation to another. People can start with grandparents and older aunts and uncles to see if they have any antique toys available. It should be noted though that tags and other items making the toys more valuable may have been removed.

Vintage teddy bears continue to bring joy to many people. They can be located at live auctions, auction websites, vintage stores, and more.
