The Best Way To Buy Turban

By Erna Gutierrez

It is not a difficult task to buy turban if you are living in India or know people in India. For others, there is the Internet, and online shops offer many types. There is cloth exclusively woven for wearing. Full cotton Voils offer a lightweight open weave. For medium weight, try the high thread count Rubia. Silk is for those who like lightweight with high quality.

For use in turbans, cloth is generally measured in length. Adults require five meters in average length. In general, the width is one meter. For younger people and those who need lower volumes, widths of below one meter are common. For the use of both generations, printed cloth and solid colors are equally available in different shades and categories.

Such headgears can be very colorful. The choice of colors available ranges among black, yellow, orange, maroon, purple, pink, red, brown, tan, dark and light blue, gray, green, white and cream. There are different prints also from which one could choose. The major users are the devout Sikhs, and they are present the world over. Sikh community members also sell turbans through many websites they have set up.

Shops, in general, do not sell turbans, and they are not stocked as a regular item. They will counsel you to get in touch with people or friends on a trip to India or are currently living there. With a great amount of choice available in the many shops online, a search for such shops will help you easily.

For a turban, any ordinary cloth will not be suitable. Turbans are meant to be tied neatly and tightly around the head. Therefore, the fabric must stretch and that makes it easy to tie around. The cloth being somewhat long, the outcome must not be very tight, and neither should it be loose enough to be easily dislodged. High quality cloth is thus required and it must be lightweight.

Since most of the fabrics for turbans are imported from India, it makes more sense to buy them online. Getting them online avoids the long waiting time involved when a relative or a friend has to go to India to get them. Moreover, the quality and price is about the same, so there is not much to gain when they are imported, rather than purchased online.

Apart from turbans, Sikhs require many other items that their religion demands they wear all the time. These items are also easily available in the online stores. You can buy other accessories such as the scarf used by women, the square scarf used by the youngsters, steel bracelets and many other items.

With online stores, you are allowed to tailor the order to your need. If the cloth length is too much, order less, and these will be accepted. Since individual preference is accepted, anyone can order according to his or her choice. Male or female, adult or children, all can select what they want. Payment can be made with credit card, Paypal or check. Therefore, anyone can buy turban.
