Usually when the term Hip Hop is heard, immediately the thought of music comes to mind. Rightfully so, however, there is more than just music and Hip Hop Mix CD such as the culture that influences people and turns their mind to follow a new trend.
Dance is a huge part of this ethos. One of the first dance genres that came alive during this era is breakdancing. It was introduced during the early days when the culture first came about. The dance involved males and females performing strenuous moves that involve flexibility and strength. They can be done alone, or in groups, and many people also battled in this genre for competition purposes.
The clothing that was worn during this era was widely used. From normal people, youth and even celebrities began dressing a certain way. This usually involved loose clothing that still showed off a person s silhouette. With the clothes, people also wore scarfs and caps that was either a form of expression or it was something that meant they were a part of specific groups.
Going to parties and being in clubs was something that many of the youth took part in. Usually, they were much younger and couldn t be at clubs. In this case, they would attend numerous house parties. At these parties, rap music which is another term used for this style of music was played on repeat. In fact, the DJ s and hosts received more fame from playing it than the actual artists.
Using spray paint in public places usually means that you need to say something and you want people to know what that is. This is why graffiti was so common during this time. It was another way of showing people that they believe in a certain topic or theme. You would most find this in the more run-down areas and it would also cause people to be warmer when they are in those areas. It may not have meant that the people are dangerous, however, this was an era where being vocal wasn t known so if you were, it probably means that you are trouble.
Rap music became the be all in the music industry. What it meant for other artists is that they would have to suffer from drops in sales if they couldn t match up or join the genre. Because of this, many artists started joining forces with rappers to create mixed music that will still help them to make sales. This way, they would also increase their chances of remaining popular.
It wasn t long until the world of digital came into existence. This meant that everyone across the globe was not forced to listen to music that they didn t enjoy. Although this was the majority, the ability to download other genres and be exposed to what other artists are doing, slowly pushed rap off the high stoop and made room for others.
Although the culture is characterized as a form of bad behaviour of illegal doings, no one can deny that there has been a movement by people globally.
