The Casting Calls Nyc Residents Can Attend Are Many

By Sally Delacruz

You having been thinking of becoming a model and have eventually managed to gather up enough courage to attend casting calls NYC. These are sometimes also referred to as agency open calls or go-sees. Having a new outfit and perfect makeup is just the beginning of the interview.

As with any interview it will give a good impression if you are on time, preferably at least 10 minutes earlier. If one is late it is considered the kiss of death. If traffic is not the mad rush you thought it would be, rather wait outside or in the lobby until your time to be there is up. If you are unsure of where the place is, use your GPS and it will estimate your time of arrival.

If you just want to be an extra in a movie that is going to be filmed, try out for a part. If you don't try you will never get in. TV commercials as well at presenters are always in need. The internet is also a very good source to find out who is hiring for what kind of a job. The more one tries out the more experienced you will become and you will one day be noticed.

There are many acting studios that offer different courses. The Summer Acting Conservatory offers a 6 week course. The cost is about $2500 and there is a limit of 16 students allowed. There is a deadline that they stick too, so enroll before it ends. They specialize with acting for film and stage and even offer a Meisner training program that will focus on instrument development.

When making your modeling portfolios only use those photos that bring out your best features. There should be some photos of you in a swimming costume and an evening dress as well as every day to day wear. The agents are not interested in going through stacks of different pictures. Never leave any little notes in the back of your book as the agents will go through everything that is given to them.

When you are called in go and have fun. Show off what you have got and remember you have taken the trouble to get this far so just go for it and don't hold back. Your support group will be cheering you on from the outside so you are not really all alone. Everything that one has heard about the Disney family being friendly, well it is all true.

Many agencies will want to take a few snapshots of you with your swimwear on and to take measurements. Rather take a bikini than a one piece. If they like what they see and they offer you a contract, don't sign on the first meeting. Think about what you have seen and been told and then if you are still interested you can sign. Never leave your decision for more than a week as this will give the impression that you are unable to make up your mind.

Be professional when leaving your voice mail message, make it short and simply. Agents do not have time to wait for a three minute introduction. Casting calls in NYC will be able to tell you which agencies are reputable. You don't want to end up as a statistic because you didn't take the time to find out which ones were trustworthy first.
