In 2012, there is a growing trend of becoming addicted to celebrity diets which simply do not work. You know the ones we are talking about, right? You've probably seen them in glossy gossip magazines each month and maybe even considered trying them from time to time.
Today, trainer Russ Howe shows why these diets don't return great results and why they often leave you in a position worse than when you started.
Magazines know their audience. They target these routines at yo-yo dieters looking to get the quick way to look like their favorite famous actor or athlete.

To get results with your weight loss you must realize a few important things about how these celebrity diets work.
Firstly, the celeb featured in the plan usually has nothing to do with it. They've been picked as a flavor of the month face for the latest quick fix by a magazine. Secondly, the plans themselves often have a few serious errors...
* Chopping your intake of fats, protein or carbs actually makes it harder to lose weight by putting your body into a state of fat storage.
* Cutting your calorie intake so drastically will put your body into starvation mode and make it almost impossible to lose weight.
* Asking you to eat silly 'next big thing' foods and nothing else. Surely you'd be tired of eating nothing but salad for a month, right?
This leads you down a lonely, frustrating path. We all know someone who has attempted one of these quick fixes and usually they'll see a fast weight loss followed by feeling quite ill and then piling the weight back on almost immediately after finishing their plan and starting to eat normal food again. This creates the yo-yo dieter, the perfect customer for these monthly magazines to sell a new concept to every month.
Magazines, of course, know their market. They know this type of stuff sells if they include a few certain things...
* Gossip from Hollywood.
* How to burn fat quickly.
* Celebrities not looking their best.
* Fashion.
You also have the d-list types who sell dvd's every Christmas showing how they dropped their belly fat over the summer months. Pay close attention to the people who do these, you'll notice around May or June they'll be featured in gossip magazines having piled weight back on again, and will release another dvd just in time for Christmas or New Year. This is a never ending cycle and the fact that the exerciser cannot keep the weight off all the year round shows the quick fix diet simply isn't effective.
If you're trying to lose weight, more than likely you want to look healthy when you lose it and you want to keep it off forever, right? As a Fitness Instructor, I show people all the time how to do this while enjoying protein, carbohydrates and fats and while still enjoying their favorite foods. You do not need a celebrity diet punishing you to attempt quick fix results which are so fixated on the 'right now' that they don't pay any attention to what happens a month from now.
