Different countries have something that they can be proud of regarding art. Japan, for instance, is very famous for its Japanese Cloisonne. This is a form of art whereby intricate designs are made by filling compartments with metal, soldering them and passing them through fire. Then, these objects are polished and either sold or used as decoration in homes. The metal that is mostly used is copper. This art has made Japan so famous in the world. The art is fascinating and the objects created are very stunning.

Traditionally, the technique was used to decorate small items like jewels, sword fittings, architectural ornaments, and water droppers among others. The art itself originated in China. Chinese artisans taught the Japanese people how to make ornamental objects using metal and fire. Japanese people learned everything about the art and became experts. Later, the art became so popular in America and Europe.

Originally, this art was used to adorn small items. People had not started using it to generate income. Around the year 1833, a Samurai by the name Kaji Tsunekich who lived in Nagoya in the province of Omwari started looking for a way to supplement the meager official salary. This Samurai took a piece of the ornament and examined how the artists from China were making it. Later, he was able to produce a little enamel dish.

By late 1850s, Kaji had become an expert in making objects and decorating them using this design. He later took on pupils and taught them the art. Due to his expertise, he was appointed the official maker and Warlord of the province of Omwari. The production of the decorative objects drastically increased. This intricate art became popular in the late 1850s and is still very popular today.

This made Nagoya and the surrounding areas to become famous due to their innovative techniques. These artisans could make beautiful objects that people could never have imagined possible. Later, many centers started designing ornamental items, which were awe-inspiring in many regions. With time, almost every province in Japan became manufacturers of the beautiful cloisonne items.

This beautiful art became so popular around the 1830s. From very small beginnings in Nagoya, it spread so fast across the country. In the early 19th century, this technique was a major revenue generating activity. More so, Japan started exporting these artifacts and became a major exporter to many countries in the world.

The people of Japan wanted to preserve the culture and educate their children and other people about their origin. They thus opened several museums to showcase the different works of art. If you visit this country today, you will have a great time going from museum to museum and enjoy the fascinating ancient artifacts.

Many countries have learned to make these products, but Japan remains the biggest exporter. You can also learn how to make these ornamental items and sell them or use them to decorate your house.
