Easy To Follow Procedures For Pool Table Movers

By Heidi Carver

Pool is a very popular game that mostly everyone can play. More commonly known as pocket billiards, this game requires a special table that has six receptacles or pockets wherein you shoot balls using a cue. There are hundreds of variations of games. More popular ones are the eight ball, the nine ball, three ball, straight pool and one pocket.

To be able to play this, you have to have the complete equipment. You will need balls with exact measures. You will need cue sticks of standard length. And most of all, you will need a pool table. These are not your ordinary furniture as they are so heavy you would need to call on pool table movers just to move it from one room to the other.

A standard furniture has dimensions of 3.5 by 7 feet. It can weigh to as much as a thousand pounds. You will not be bale to budge it out of position by yourself, so if you want a new location for your furniture, call on as many people as you can who will be able to help you as you carry out these quick procedures in moving it.

Remove all six pockets first. Be sure to wear safety goggles during this part of the task, because you will have to pull out staple wires using a staple puller. There is a tendency that these staples can unwittingly hit you in the eye, so it is best to be safe than sorry. If you do not have a staple puller, a flat head screw will have to do.

After removing all the pockets, the next part you would have to remove is the rails. These are long pieces of wood that prevent the ball from falling out when you are tying to shoot it inside a pocket. Now, with the aid of a peer, unscrew the rails and slide them out. Flip them over and unscrew the underside to separate the sections.

Now that the rails are out, it is easy to see where the felt covering begins. Use again a staple puller or a flat head driver to loosen the cloth. Not all felt covers are fastened, though. Some of them are just kept in place by some glue. If only the glue is used, then all you have to do is to pull all side out gently.

Some stands have two or even three slates. To remove these slates from the wooden frame, you will need a power drill. Keep in mind to keep all the screws, nuts and bolts to save you the effort, time and money of having to buy replacement ones once these little fasteners get lost. Carefully stack one on top of the other.

To move the table, you will need wooden dollies. Since one dolly is needed for each of the legs of the table, you need four all in all. To avoid scratching the table, it would be wise to cover each dolly with some fabric. Ask the help of others to lift one side of the table. Place dollies underneath each leg. Raise the other side and put the remaining two below the legs.

Since moving this furniture is very hard, it is not recommended that you do it without professional help especially if you are attempting it for the first time. There are a lot of movers that could help, and they can be found almost everywhere, especially in huge cities like Denver, Colorado. They offer reasonable rates so you do not have to worry about disrupting your budget over a piece of furniture.
