Plain and simple, Ethan Hawke is one of the more interesting actors in the movie industry. I wouldn't call him reclusive, but you don't really hear about him unless he has a movie coming out. Imagine if all actors were this way. When you do hear about him, however, it's usually because his movie is getting good (or bad) reviews.
This article will take a look at some of his best films over his career.
One movie that I will reluctantly put on this list is Before The Devil Knows You're Dead. Talk about a tough movie to watch. This is a really messed up movie that stars Ethan Hawke and Philip Seymour Hoffman. If you can handle it, check it out.
Another movie that featured Ethan Hawke that I thoroughly enjoyed was New York, I Love You. This movie is a remake of a film about Paris with a similar name and features a bunch of short films within the film. Hawke's scene in this movie is one of my favorites.
Another movie that I would definitely include on this list is Daybreakers. Amongst the recent vampire craze, it is hard to find an original script surrounding this concept. Daybreakers takes place in a world where almost everyone has become a vampire and the world is running out of humans, and facing a starvation crisis.
It goes without saying that no list of Ethan Hawke movies would be complete without giving praise to Before Sunrise. This movie, directed by the great Richard Linklater, follows the story of an American traveling to Paris and having a romantic chance encounter with a woman, played by Julie Delpy.
The last film that makes the cut for me is Before Sunset. I think the thing I like about this sequel to Before Sunrise is the fact that Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy were very much involved in the writing process. In fact, them and director Richard Linklater were nominated for an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.
There is no doubt after going through Ethan Hawke's best films that there have been some outstanding ones.
